The project stems from the idea of knotting as primary means of gathering the Bay Area communities along Sausal Creek, using the Bay Trail as the ‘string’ that forms series of knots. These knots serve as zones of gathering and special activities along the creek. The trail leads to the final knot at the Fruitvale Art Lab.
Mapping studies of ethnic distributions and public transportation routes on the East Bay generate the idea of extending the Bay Trail to follow the creek and create networks that link public buildings, with the intention of drawing people to the sites along the creek.
